Here's the updated lore for the server (what I dub "v3.0"). The main aspect of the updated lore is it cuts about 3/4s of the previous lore pertaining to specific events in Solstheim, and replaces it with about two simpler, more vague summaries. From there the bulk of the rest sets the backdrop for the events of Atmora, and describes the concept of how a newcomer would typically arrive on Atmora. Any new applicants should be forwarded to this, preferibly before they take a ton of time writing an app based on the old Solstheim-set lore XD. Enjoy

The story of our plight-our struggle, our being-began 40 years ago in the lands of Skyrim. The dragons had been unleashed and Alduin, their leader, was readying his plot. But one hope remained. The Dovahkiin, the Dragonborn. A figure of uncertain race, gender, or appearance, and no clear abilities or past aside from his command of the Voice. The Dovahkiin had been preparing, and was now ready, to take on Alduin as the dragon sought to devour the souls of Sovngarde. He was equipped with the mighty shout Dragonrend. We had a chance! The Dovahkiin entered Sovngarde, located Alduin...
Then he failed. He drew too far into the mist, and he too was devoured by Alduin. Our last hope to stop the Alduin Incident failed. Not to long afterwards, Alduin ruled the land and sky of Skyrim, demolishing anything he could get his claws on. Men, mer, and beast sought for survival and escape, both the current generation and all future generations to come. The Imperial Legion, under the orchestration of a man by the name of Duke Derevan, led an Evacuation Operation in which the citizens of Skyrim who survived were taken aboard a Legion vessel called The Durc and transported to the distant island of Solstheim. The mighty ship had destroyed any fleeing ship of Ulfric Stormcloak earlier, earning its honor to play its part in the exodus.
But that was almost 45 years ago. Since then, things have gone both uphill and very, very, downhill. Solstheim was eventually targeted by the Daedra, eyed by a corrupt Imperial Legion, and brutally attacked by the former and relentlessly occupied by the latter. With nowhere to run and divines know nowhere to hide, we were all but vanquished, fighting ultimately in vain to re-secure the island...then we were given a ray of hope.
Atmora: Chronicles in Cold Blood
Atmora, a land now shrouded in mystery buried beneath the snow and ice. About two Eras ago, this land was home to the ancestors of the Nords, the Bretons, and the Imperials. This land is where the 500 Companions were formed, the first human settlers in Tamriel. This land is where Tiber Septim, the last recorded person to leave Atmora, was born. It was once a temperate place with seasonal temperatures, until about midway through the Second Era, a few centuries after the 500 Companions emerged victorious over the elves and settled in Skyrim. It was then that the land was plagued with an unending blizzard. The Nedes, as the people of Atmora were called, were never heard from after that. Expeditions in the past five centuries of the 4th and 3rd Eras verified that the land was still as frozen and uninhabitable as it was five centuries before then...until now.
The Remnant of Solstheim, who were told to flee Solstheim as a result of the bloody Daedra invasions that plagued them for the past 40 years since the destruction of Skyrim, have experienced the worst. Their adventures in Solstheim ended upon the arrival of an entity who is referred simply as "Darkness". After surviving a brutal battle with this being that resulted in the deaths of multiple individuals, the remnant of Solstheim was instructed by the Divines (specifically Mara, goddess of love) that Atmora would be their new home, a safe haven from both the Empire that now hunted the remnant for their acts of "treason" against the Legion's attempt to seize Solstheim out of desperation, and from the attacks of the Daedra and this "Darkness" entity who would inevitably return. The Divines assured them that Atmora had been changed recently and could be safely inhabited by them. The remnant loaded themselves and as many belongings as they could carry to the ships that made up the Bolterian Navy, a private fleet belonging to the remnant of Solstheim, and set off into the unknown.
The voyage was long, and for some tearful. As the waters became more icy, the remnant was forced to discard or repurpose several of the items they brought in order to keep the ship afloat and maintained.
However, surely enough, as their voyage came to a close near the south end of Atmora, they saw the divines were right: the land was not quite how the reports described. Sure, it was cold--colder than Solstheim was--, but not so much an "inhospitable wasteland". In fact, one could see a few spots of grass growing a few miles down the coastline. As the ships sailed along the southern shore, they saw in the distance the large-yet-wrecked remains of a large harbor, and not too far from that: the frozen ruins of Jylkurfyk, which was the largest Port City on Atmora.
As the remnant of Solstheim continued their adventures in this new, mysterious land, the adventures of many are just beginning. Rumors have begun circulating of Atmora's inhabitability mixed with enticing claims of peace from the Legion's onslaught and the wars that ensued in the rest of Tamriel, as well as the thought of lost treasures and secrets left behind by the Nedes just waiting for someone to find. The remnant of Solstheim have become aware of these rumors, and the Bolterian Navy has begun an under-the-table ferrying operation with their lighter ships, secretly transporting those who are "curious enough" to verify these rumors to Atmora from backwater ports along the northern coasts of Tamriel.
They come from different walks of life, from all corners of Tamriel. From explorers, mercenaries and self-proclaimed heroes, to thieves, vigilantes, and back-stabbing rouges, they all want to see this rumored land for their own reasons...and you are among them. You have come seeking this land to experience what it has to offer you...and to determine what you can "offer" it. Your reasons are you own. Have you come to start a new life with a clean slate in a land set apart from the rest of the world? Have you come to aid the remnant of Solstheim? To seek the rumored lost treasures and relics? To take refuge from the turmoil in Tamriel? Or are you here with a much more sinister objective? Are you here To hunt the remnant of Solstheim on behalf of the Legion so as to obtain some bounty for doing so? To pillage the settlements for whatever they brought or found? To put an end to the rumored "peace"?Or perhaps you favor the path of the mage. Are you here to learn spells from the greatest magical minds among the remnant of Solstheim in the College of Magic in order to protect the land? To destroy it and bend mortal kind to its knees?
There's a world of possibilities, far too many to describe them all. A world of choices in a land that has long been forgotten. Your actions can potentially change the course of all life in this alienated land. The actions of all will either build this land up to be stronger than it ever was before, or condemn it to Oblivion to share a similar fate as Solstheim...
Welcome to Atmora...
